Our JavaScript Code

Last Updated: Feb 29, 2012 11:15AM EST
Are you curious about that code? Wondering about what you're installing? This is the article for you.

Does the JavaScript work with HTTP and HTTPS?
Yes, the Spring Metrics JavaScript code is set up to work on secure and non-secure pages. No changes need to be made on your part. In each case, our code will do what needs to be done.

How reliable is your JavaScript?
Our JavaScript code is served off of Amazon's CDN network, which has a fantastic record of uptime and response time. In addition, Spring Metrics JavaScript is loaded asynchronously, so your page will not be held up waiting for Spring Metrics to load.

Why does the code go above the </head> tag?
We have found that you get more accurate data when you put the code at the top of your page as apposed to the end of your page. Having the code at the top captures more events from users who click away from a page before the page finishes loading. If putting the code in the Head of the document is a problem for your site, you can put the code in the body - it is just a little less accurate.

Do I need to install the tracking code on every single page of my site?
When you first set up your account, you will be asked to place our tracking code on all of the pages of your site. It is important to make sure the code is on all of the pages on your site or else Spring Metrics will not be able to track them when they go to those pages. The easiest way to do this is place the code in a common header file. This way you only need to put the code in one place and it will appear on every page. If you have questions about this, don’t hesitate to contact us.
