How to Install Spring Metrics on BigCommerce

Last Updated: Feb 13, 2014 03:28PM EST
If you have a Bigcommerce store, you can create a Spring Metrics account here.

1.

First, log in to Spring Metrics and click the "I'll embed the code myself" button:

2. Using your keyboard or mouse, copy the tracking code in the box (note - you'll see an actual tracking ID, not "yourIDhere"):

3. Now, log in to your BigCommerce account. Click "Design" at the top, and then click the "Browse Template Files" button (for the theme that's currently active).

4. Then click "HTMLHead.html" to open your site's main header file.

5. Scroll down to the bottom of your HTMLHead.html file, and paste your tracking code just above the </head> tag.

6. Then click "Save" in the upper left corner of the window.

7. Next, we'll add the revenue and conversion tracking code to your site. Copy the following code:
<script type="text/javascript">
  _springMetq.push(["setdata", {revenue: "%%ORDER_AMOUNT%%", "email":"%%ORDER_EMAIL%%", "orderId":"%%ORDER_ID%%"}]);
  _springMetq.push(["convert","sale"]);
</script>

8. Now, back in Bigcommerce, click on the "Setup & Tools" link at the top. Then, in the "Customize your store" column, click "Conversions".

9. Paste the code into the "Conversion Tracking Code" text box, and then click "Save".

That's it! If you have any questions about this process, please send us an email or give us a call.

Recommended next step: if you have a mobile template enabled for your Bigcommerce store, you can follow these instructions to place the Spring Metrics tracking code in your mobile template.
